Renegotiating NAFTA

By Catherine J. Petersen     6/1/2017

On May 18, 2017, the Trump Administration formally notified Congress of its intent to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). On May 23, 2017, the Office of the United States Trade Representative published a request for public comments and a notice of a public hearing on negotiating objectives regarding modernization of the NAFTA.

I and John Goodrich, J.D. Goodrich & Associates, have developed an 8-question survey regarding the pros and cons of NAFTA. We would like to hear your thoughts about the role the North American Free Trade Agreement plays in your company.
• What's good about it?
• What doesn't work as well?
• Why do you use it?
• What would you change about it?
• What would happen to your company if NAFTA went away?
Upon closure of the survey we will compile the responses and publish aggregated results in next month's newsletter; your individual responses will remain confidential. Please register your responses as soon as possible; the survey will close by June 9.
We hope you will take time to answer these 8 questions and submit your anonymous responses via Survey Monkey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7FM7PM9.

If you would like to submit your comments to the Administration, please review the requirements at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2017/05/23/2017-10603/request-for-comments-on-negotiating-objectives-regarding-modernization-of-the-north-american-free. The public comment deadline is June 12, 2017; a public hearing will take place on June 27, 2017.
